I am the Educational Technology Specialist at the Carbon Lehigh Intermediate Unit in Schnecksville, PA, just outside Allentown, PA. I earned my Bachelors degree in Communications Media from Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 2002 and my Masters degree in Adult Education & Communications Technology from IUP in 2006. I have my Instructional Technology Specialist certification awarded by the Pennsylvania Department of Education and am a Phi Kappa Phi honors society member. I am a member of Mensa and Intertel as well as the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE), Assosciation for Supervision and Curriculem Development (ASCD) & the National Staff Development Council (NSDC). It is my goal to open administrator's eyes to the importance of technology integration into curriculum and seamlessly integrate this technology into each and every classroom. The emergence of the read write web has provided an enormous amount of educational tools at teacher's fingertips but these technologies are out of reach to many teachers. This is due to the misinformation of decision makers who have cast away many of these resources. Imagine pencils and books forbidden from the classroom, sounds crazy, but that is exactly what is happening when blogs, wikis and other technologies are banned from the classrooms. Students today are known as digital natives, they are immersed in technology and do not view it as an instrument, but as a way of life. We as educators are obligated to integrate these technologies into the curriculum if we expect today's students to ascend to their fullest potential. The objective of this wiki is to demonstrate the technologies that are available to educators and hopefully influence those who make decisions in the districts to accept we are experiencing a paradigm shift in education and recognize the inevitable.
